Jelly Roll He attributes his weight loss to improving his sex life with his wife Bunny Xo.
“My testosterone level — and I’m cool to talk about this openly — was that of a boy,” the country singer, 41, said. Men’s Health cover story published on Friday, January 2. “When I went in there for the check-up, it was bad.”
A normal testosterone level for a man the same age as Jelly Roll (real name Jason DeFord) usually ranges from 300 to 900 ng/dL. However, for men struggling with obesity, the number can be less than 300.
“The world opened up when I saw it on paper. I was like, That’s my testosterone level? I mean, man, we’re talking 57,” Jelly Roll continued.
Jelly Roll explained that before his weight loss journey, he struggled to find love even though he was in love with Bunnie Xo (real name Alisa DeFord), whom he married in 2016.
“You can’t get up without T,” he explained. “I was married to a smoking show, and I was still struggling.”
Before starting her fitness journey, Jelly Roll weighed 540 pounds. Now, having lost about 300 pounds, she feels happier while living in a “very different world.”
“Now it’s a completely different thing. I’m chasing him all over the house, you know what I’m saying?” Jelly Roll scoffed. “I’m like a little kid again!”
Jelly Roll shared that she started her health journey without using GLP-1 weight loss drugs. Instead, he went to therapy to treat his food addiction.
“Even before I started getting my blood work done, I went to therapy for my binge eating. I started treating my food addiction for what it was: an addiction,” she told the outlet. “Why did I deal with cocaine in a certain way? I went to cocaine meetings and found a sponsor and detoxed from it and got rid of it and faced some really life-changing emotional decisions to quit cocaine and codeine. I didn’t look at food addiction any differently. When I started treating food like an addiction, everything started to change for me.”
Last month, Jelly Roll opened up about how she and Bunnie Xo, 45, struggled to bond before she lost weight.
“My sex life with my wife was terrible,” the singer said during a December 2025 appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “Brother, I married a fat, blond, beautiful woman, you know what I mean, I married the kind of woman who makes you smile when you cry, I couldn’t even be woken up, I was big.
Despite their hardships, Bunnie Xo stayed by her husband’s side, cheering him on during his weight loss journey. The promoter shared a playful video celebrating his success.
“If you have to check and make sure you’re still your squish after all the weight loss,” she wrote in an August 2025 TikTok video and added the caption, “Bestie #jellyandbunnie.”
