California launches ‘Agentral Agent Chairkuct’ reporting portal

California Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta and Gov. Gavin Newlom launched a new online portal on Wednesday that allows residents to report what they believe to be excessive force, misconduct or other illegal activities by security forces.

Videos, photos and other information sent through the portal will be kept confidential and will help Bonta’s team members “build a record of illegal behavior by Federal agents” that can be used in future legal actions, Bonta’s office said.

The announcement comes as state leaders clash with Trump administration officials over the introduction of financial agents in California. For months, local residents prepared and documented those agents during immigration raids and enforcement actions. Claims of harassment have been filed and local leaders have begun to put their own measures to reduce federal agents working in their meetings – including the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Vote on Tuesday.

“California will always resist the abuse of power where it comes from, and we will make sure that no one – Agent One – works without the constitution in our state on Wednesday through the portal on Wednesday morning. “This is an important step in that process.”
