California is giving Planned Parenthood $140 million to keep 109 clinics open

California authorities are giving Planned Parenthood $140 million to keep 109 clinics open and remove some funding from cuts imposed by Republicans in Washington, Democrat Gov. Gavin Newlom.

NewsOm said the move affirms the government’s continued commitment to abortion for women in the Golden State Office amid President Donald Trump’s and Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.

“California is a reproductive freedom state, and this latest investment continues to demonstrate our belief in protecting access to essential health care in times of need,” NewsOm said in a statement Thursday. “Trump’s efforts to decriminalize Planned Parenthood put all of our communities at risk as people demand basic health care from these public providers.”

State merchants will face the issue again when the Legislature reconvenes in January.

Planned Parenthood had announced it would end primary care at clinics in Orange and San Bernardino Counties starting in December. Five other clinics in the Bay Area, Santa Cruz and the Central Valley, were also shut down in recent months as a result of the organization’s efforts to remove the organization.

Dr. Jacet Jacobson, medical director of the Orange and San Bernardino Counties Calcies, said that the state’s actions are “destroying our care system.”

Jacobson said: “It’s the power to take away people’s health care. “People with medi-cal should be able to see a provider of their choice for primary care.”

Planned Parenthood needs $27 million a month to operate all of its local centers, Jodi Hicks, President and CEO of California Parenthood Communications, told reporters.

“California’s organized sex partners are grateful to the governor and our partners in the Legislature for taking on this much-needed agency to protect organized health centers,” Hick said of the impact.

California is the fourth state to allocate public money to fund Planned Parenthood, joining Washington, Colorado and New Mexico. Lawmakers in Oregon and New York are also considering donating public money to the organization.

Republicans on the Hill and across the country have targeted Planned Parenthood for abortion services. Trump’s signature spending spree over the summer banned Planned Parenthood from receiving Medicaid money for its services, including abortions, mammograms, pap smears, and sexually transmitted infection testing.

Abortion centers in GOP-Led states have been forced to drop procedures following the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision overturning ROE V. Wade and reinstating abortion laws.

Planned Parenthood centers have been shuttered in various states across the country, including California and New York. Mar Monte’s Planned Parenthood – which operates 30 health centers in the California coast, Central Valley and Nevada – Five Health Centers in July after a financial plan for young parents.

Mar Monte Chief of Staff Andrew Adams said the organization is working on ways to maintain its financial stability. Adams said the closure helped maintain services at the organization’s clinics until the end of the year but that a “financial cliff” could be met in the new year.

“We’re planning a place where there’s no federal funding,” Adams told Cool. “What it looks like is charging patients a certain amount of money for the services we provide.”

The organization has said that abortions make up only 3% of its services, but Pro-Life groups that ensure the closure of clinics when abortions are banned prove that to be false.

“If it was true, they wouldn’t be closing all these Pro-Life places that say you can’t have an abortion. So that’s no more abortion.

NewsOM, California lawmakers and Planned Parenthood have spent much of the year looking for a solution to keep the organization afloat without dollars.

But with a multibillion-dollar state deficit, that has been a difficult goal.
