The California District Attorney also turned to social media images of 9/11 and noted the explosion of Zohran Mamdani’s election as the first Muslim Mayor of New York City. Despite the gory images and strong condemnation of Mamdani, Dani Dow insists she has no issues with the Muslim community in San Luis Obispo County, where she is the lead prosecutor.
He has a “strong relationship” with the community, Dow said in an emailed statement Thursday to the Times.
But his post has since been retracted, and a Muslim advocacy group is demanding an apology and investigation.
Wednesday, dow checked the post again In X from a popular wing account that appears to show the closing moments after the flames engulfed the South Tower, the second of the twin towers that was hit by a plane on September 11, 2001.
A The second visible Tweet, It is much better than the First, shown by the two angos of the aircraft installation in one of the towers. That was sent by the leader of an activist organization, described as a hate group by some, that “fights against the threats from the Islamic Susemacists, who always eat and their medicine.”
Each was sent after the pre-election election in New York City won by the 34-year-old, self-described Democratic Mamdarist.
These posts were reopened a few days later and are 3,000 kilometers away by dow, drawing reprimands from some of the locals, in the first broken story by san luis obispo tribune.
Dow responded in an email to the Times that he noted comments that his magazine did not feature Muslim women, of which there are about 500, according to the Assn. of religious histories.
“I shared the post because, in my opinion, Mamdani is going to destroy New York by becoming a Socialist,” Dow said. “I support the Muslim community and have a strong tie to our Muslim community in San Luis Obispo.”
The original post was also found to be from the account @dukuness, which vows to its nearly 4 million followers to “fight, be exposed, and be funny and funny.”
The second post came from Amy Mekelburg, on raising, aligning, revitalizing and restoring (rair) the foundation, written as a hate organization by the Council of the Council of the Council of the Council of Governments-Islamic.
The Council’s Los Angeles office demanded Thursday evening to apologize and “retract previous posts from the anti-Muslim Medical Media.” Cair-La is also calling for an independent investigation into Dow’s conduct and “his fitness to continue serving as DA.”
This organization is inclined to his revival of Mekelburg, which they describe as “a well-known anti-Muslim extremist.”
Mekelburg wrote a big message in the video post, saying that it will not be “self-given” to warn the world “about the threat of Islam after 9/11.”
“And now … to see New York – My City – Stop at this moment, where someone like Zohran Mamdani can be nominated,” he wrote. “My God, New York, what have you done?”
Cair-La said Mekelburg “equated Mamdani’s election to 9/11, reinforcing the dangerous stereotype that Muslims are linked to terrorism because of their faith.”
Dow followed up that specific post with a message that began by highlighting his 32 years of service in the US Army and his four tours overseas.
“I remember like it was yesterday when our country was attacked by Islamic extremists on 9/11/2001,” he wrote. “I love this country and I do not in any way share the same views as a 33-year-old Socialist.”
He added in a Tweet: “I am deeply saddened to see the big apple literally divided by choosing UN-American relations who want to trample on the values and freedoms that millions of Americans fought and died for.”
“Dow’s decision to repeat the content including basic weapons and the arrest of a Muslim officer in the terrorist and shows a deep swelling and shows the outbreak of tens of American Muslims, said Cair-Counter Hissam Ayloush, said in a statement.
Dow’s posts also touched the nerves of one of his fellow Muslims in San Luis Obispo, Dr. Rushdi Cader, who referred to the district attorney as “your friend” in the San Luis Obispo Tribune.
Cader told the Tribune that the post was “very offensive and put Muslims at risk of harm, especially women wearing my wife Nisha, Dan made himself blessed in peace. ‘”
Cader added that he thought the bad “post taste” was “seen” without Mamdani’s political disagreements “than any direct attack on Islam.”
Dow’s tweets have drawn other threats.
San Luis Obis Obispo County Second Division Administrator Bruce Gibson is called “Christian nationalism.”
“He occupies a powerful public office that demands respect and discipline,” Gibson said. “This post is another way he doesn’t have.”
San Luis Obispo Mayor Erica Stewart said in an email that the city welcomes all members of the community.
“Dani Dow, as a county attorney, by definition, must be objective and fair,” he wrote. “For someone in his position to express racism is unacceptable.”
Dow also had his defenders.
Orange County Dist. Atty. Todd Spitzer serves as DOW for the California State Attorneys Assn. Spitzer is secretary-general of the organization while Dow is president.
Spitzer found no fault with DOW’s Media Posts.
“Elected officials have a platform to share their ideas and be judged by their constituencies,” he wrote in an email. “It’s sad to see someone who has expressed such anti-social and anti-Semitism elected as the Mayor of New York, and we as elected defenders of public safety have a right to express that.”
