Boston Blue’s Donnie Wahlberg Will Have Challenges With Son After Resurgence

[ad_1]

Donnie Wahlberg‘s Boston Blue character Danny will continue to face challenges in his relationship with son Sean following the screenplay.

The Blue Bloods spinoff, which aired its midseason finale on Friday, December 19, followed Danny trying to get to a better place with Sean (Mika Amonsen) since they were living in the same place. The father-son duo has faced their fair share of ups and downs, which continues to be tested in the second half of the season.

“Especially in the back half of the season, we spend time putting them together in situations that force them to look at each other in a new light,” said the executive producer. Brandon Sonnier he was only mocked at Us Weekly. “They forced Sean to try to prove himself to his father, which he always does. But now on another level, he is starting to see that he is his own man.”

Sonny promised that Sean would learn more about his father.

“He has lessons to learn from his father but there are lessons he has to learn on his own. And then on the other hand, this is as close as Danny has ever been to Sean. They’re both physically – they’re in the same place and now Sean is at work,” he continued. So they are together more time than ever before.

Sonny continued: “Danny learns surprising things about his son, things about his son that he loves and things about his son that he sees pitfalls that he can help him avoid. That relationship during the back half of the season grows and blossoms. They also reach some difficult places – as all relationships do.”

Danny’s trip to New York was featured on CBS’ Blue Blood, which started in 2010 to 2024. The spinoff, which premiered in October, begins with Danny visiting Boston after Sean ends up in a coma. This version of Sean looked different after the role he played before Andrew Terraciano.

“It’s been rough, for sure,” Amonsen told us exclusively last month about taking on the role. “But when I look under those negative posts, there are a lot of fans rooting for Sean and people saying they really enjoy the character I’ve created – or my version of the character.”

Amonsen noted that he wants to please Blue Bloods fans with his performance, saying, “They really enjoy the show and they like where it’s going with Sean and that makes me happy.”

The actor recalled feeling “a ton of pressure” about the situation.

“I felt pressure to respect the actor in front of me because I wanted to respect Andrew as much as I could, and there were certain choices I made that I wanted to keep about the way I did my hair and certain ways of being a person. [as Sean]” he continued. “I really want to keep Sean as close as possible in the ways that I do out of respect for this character that everyone loves — but also the character that Andrew has built for himself.”

He continued: “When I booked the show, it all happened very quickly. It wasn’t even a week and I was immediately thrown into it. I indulged as much as I could and I found that doing the later seasons was very helpful. I wanted to hear who Sean was at the end of the show. I really wanted to hear his character at that point in his adulthood and his relationship with Danny.

Terraciano, on the other hand, broke his silence Us about the shakeup.

“I had a call from someone – actually on the day of my graduation – and they had spoken to my mother and she called me. [crying]. They were like, ‘Maybe they want a different Sean,'” Terraciano shared Us in December about the on-screen change. “Shortly after getting the news, Donnie called me. It was a really good time to hear from an old friend, but also someone he respects a lot and learned a lot from.”

Terraciano expressed gratitude for his time Blue Blood.

“It’s good because you’ll always remember every single line and every day you had a chance to be that character,” he said. “It doesn’t mean for a second that someone else can’t go and do something good with it.”

Terraciano continued: “I got the joy of playing Sean, and I had to get him out into the world. Now someone gets that joy. We’re both going to show what we do and send Sean out into the world.”

Boston Blue airs on CBS Fridays at 10 pm ET.
