Armed attackers attacked a Catholic school in Nigeria early Friday, abducting several children and staff, in the days of childbirth after 25 days were kidnapped in a neighboring area and 38 church worshipers were kidnapped in another.
Friday’s attack took place at St. Mary in Papiri Community of Papiri of St.
He did not share the number of students and staff who were kidnapped or who may be responsible for the attack.
A Famis Media Broadcaster from TV said 52 school children were kidnapped, the Associated Press reported. Nigerian authorities have not confirmed the numbers.
Health security forces and tactical units were sent to the scene early Friday, the Niger State police said in a statement, describing the center as children studying in primary school aged 12 to 17.

According to Usman, the school failed to heed the warning of rising threats, which he wrote included a clear order to ‘stop all construction activities and temporarily close all boarding schools in the affected area.’
“Unfortunately, Stryry Mary’s school continued to open and resume educational activities without notifying or seeking permission from the federal government, thus exposing students and staff to avoid risk,” he said in a statement.
He urged schools, community leaders and all those involved to “adhere strictly to the advice given by public safety,” saying, “The protection of lives, especially those that were prioritized in this regulation.”
According to AP, UMAR Yunus, who lives in Papiri, said there are only local security arrangements and no official police or government forces found the school during Friday’s attack.
On the same day, in a separate statement following the incident, the government said that the government “has implemented all security measures to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped students and to prevent future incidents.”
The kidnapping in Niger State happened days after the gunmen attacked a government primary school in Kebbi State, about 170 km from Papiri, and kidnapped 25 female students.

In another violent attack on Monday in Kwara State, which was carried out by Niger State, armed assailants attacked, killing 38 worshippers, the Secretary of Christ Apostolic Church, told related media on Friday.
He said the armed men demanded a ransom of 100 million naira ($69,000) for each of the abzores.
