Apple warns iPhone users to stop using this popular browser

Apple iPhones come preloaded with the Apple Safari web browser, which is what most people use. However, some prefer Chrome, say 30% of iPhone users who choose a flower competitor or use it alongside Safari. Why? It offers benefits that you don’t get with gemini’s delicious, AI-assisted gemini’s luxury. There’s also Google Lens for image searches for identification, Web page translation, and easy sign-in with an existing Google Account to access saved passwords, payment information, bookmarks, and more. According to apple, however, that browser is not recommended for use on the iPhone. Apparently, the phone maker says Safari is the safest browser option you can use.

Of course, it makes practical sense that Apple would want to promote its home-grown browser on its devices. But Apple users across the board love being able to access Chrome on their iPhones, Macbooks, or iPads. They like the user interface, Google app integration, features like extensions, and intelligent AI experience. There’s a reason Apple is recommending its loyal iPhone users stick with Safari, though, and I had to do it in terms of security and privacy.

Apple Touts Safari for privacy concerns

Apple claims Safari is a browser that protects your privacy, noting features that ensure a safe browsing experience, including cross-tracking protection and hiding your IP address from known trackers. For a broader comparison, Apple points to a cleaner list of things Chrome lacks that Safari has. These include blocking third-party cookies, machine learning to protect against tracking, removal of unique trackers from URLs when browsing in private mode, and hiding some browsing.

The push by Apple came shortly after Google confirmed it would not remove tracking cookies from Chrome. Last year, Apple ran an ad campaign focused around the secure environment of Safari, painting (although not saying anything by name) that the “competition” does not offer the same. It’s no secret, after all, that Google’s business model relies heavily on tracking advertising.

Even sending Google’s digital fingerprints, which track your online behavior through your device, the latest iOS 26 update has a feature in Safari to create. Called advanced tracking and fingerprint protection, it’s now tricked into “all browsing.” This masks your device, making it more challenging to trace.

Apple claims Safari offers a better browsing experience

Apart from security, Apple promises a better browsing experience with Safari. Apple said the most visited websites would yield 50% faster, which seemed to be true in 2020, although chrome has improved since then. Either way, Safari still beats Chrome on iPhones and Macs.

In addition, there is still seamless access to Google apps in Safari, such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides. If you own an iPhone, chances are you have other Apple devices, too. You can sync passwords, bookmarks, history, tabs, and more across all your Apple devices, and Hands-on tasks from one to another. That’s another great benefit of keeping it in the family. There are other useful features such as a quick note to cut ideas without leaving the browser, and virtual look, which works similarly to Google Lens.

All in all, you don’t have to remove Chrome from your iPhone. But if you want a truly private browsing experience, you may decide to make the switch for privacy reasons. That’s exactly what the apple wants to do. It doesn’t matter, Safari has many interesting features and functions, and gemini is a big advantage over chrome, you’ll have to decide if it’s worth it.
