Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo came in Thursday evening on Mayor Meyal Preevel trying to dampen the momentum of the Democratic Party.
Instead he used more of the opposition’s face on the defense, fending off criticism over his long-term hiring of Mamdani and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
Cuomo, now running as an independent, continues to try to push Mamdani’s agenda further, saying he has no experience leading America’s largest city. Mamdani, the Democratic favorite, lashed out at the governor’s previous response to the Covid-19 pandemic with allegations of sexual harassment that CuoMo denies.
But after two hours of touching on how the next Mayor will deal with President Donald Trump, quality of life issues and affordability, it wasn’t clear if anyone was doing enough to move the needle.
For Cuomo, the stakes for Faceff are very high. The debate is one of his last chances to try to convince voters that going with Mamdani, who has already defeated the all-powerful governor in the Primary this summer, would be a mistake. The race is Cuomo’s attempt to return to politics after stepping down four years ago following allegations of sexual harassment.
Mamdani, who spent the interview in pain with a smile as he tried to maintain the optimistic, good-looking person who showed his campaign, wanted to express himself as a pragmatic eboelication rather than being a prismatic eboelogical rather than being a prismatic liberal rather than being a prismatic liberal rather than being a prismatic liberal rather than a big belief.
The race has chosen him in the world of national politics, and the Republicans, who can turn him to face the face of the democratic party by highlighting his views and positions that are very controversial and throw them at each other.
At that time Sliwa, a Republican and a colorful creator of guardian angels crime, tried to close his underdog campaign until he was required to give up. Although he could have helped Cuomo by meeting with Mamdani, he instead spent most of his time making the former governor.
Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, suspended his re-election campaign late last month after being deeply hurt by a now-dismissed federal corruption case and his ties to the Trump Administration.
Here are some key takeaways from today’s debate:
Mamdani was attacked right out of the gate, as Cuomo highlighted the 33-year-old relative’s lack of experience and painted his agenda as absurd and unpopular.
CUOMO, CUT OFF FREE START, Says Mayor “isn’t an on-the-job training job”
“This is not a first-time job,” he said, while trying to broadcast Mamdani as “Bill de Blasio light,” referring to the previously unpopular mayor.
Mamdani blasted Cuomo’s integrity and decision-making during the pandemic and also raised the sexual assault investigation and legal fees related to his defense.
“What I don’t have in experience, I do with integrity. What you don’t have integrity, you will never do with experience,” he said.
Cuomo also wanted to cast himself as Democrat Truek Stature only, despite not running on the Democratic party line.
Mamdani’s brand of economic populism and laser focus on cutting costs in a city that has cost the stars has generated buzz and excitement. At the same time, the state assembly’s calls to raise taxes on the wealthy and strong criticism of Israel’s military actions in Gaza have been resisted by some centrists and New Yorkers.
During an appearance on Fox News Channel this week, Mamdani dissected the question of whether Hamas should lay down its arms as part of the fragile package Israel has created for two years – the war on Hamas.
On Thursday he didn’t weigh in, saying, “I just believe they should put their arms down.”
The comments came as Cuomo also highlighted Mamdani’s past reluctance to avoid using the term “Goal Worther the Intifada,” which many Jews see as violent.
From the beginning, Mamdani said he does not use the phrase and would discourage people from saying it.
But Sliwa said it was not enough. “Jews don’t trust you to be where you are when they are victims of antisemitic attacks,” he said.
Mamdani, at the time, accused Cuomo of failing to represent the Muslim community of the City, saying that he lost a Muslim candidate to Cuomo to go inside the mosque.
About that producer Anand Ram explains how Zohran Mamdani defeated Andrew Cuomo in New York City’s Meyaratic Primary Election.
The President, who threatened to arrest Mamdani, expel him and even take over the city if he wins, was asked early in the morning.
Pressed on how they will treat Trump, Mamdani – who traveled to the Venue Powther at 30 Rockefeller Plaza from Trump Tower, accompanied by the Brass Band – agreed to work with him to reduce costs and costs.
The second and final debate is scheduled for next week.
