AID groups call for urgent access to shelter, food items in Gaza as winter approaches

Thousands of boxes full of shelter and food items continue to arrive in Jordan, Egypt and Israel, humanitarian organizations are making it to Gaza almost four weeks after the end of the four papers with Israel began.

Since the weather is cold, hundreds of thousands live in dilapidated tents, without a suitable means of shelter from the elements after Israel’s murderous killings destroyed it.

“We have a very short chance to protect families from winter rains and cold,” said Angelita Caredda, Middle East and North Africa regional director of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).

“Gaza must receive shelter, but only the necessary part remains,” Caredda said in a statement on Wednesday, calling for “rapid and inefficient” access to the impoverished war zone.

NRC, leading to a group of agencies working on the lack of shelter in Gaza, It means that the release went into effect on Oct. 10, the Israeli authorities rejected 23 requests from five aid agencies to deliver urgently needed kits, such as tents, tent placement and sleeping areas, beds, kitchen sets and blankets.

“No family should have to face winter in public,” said Caredda. “Every day of delay puts lives at risk.”

The NRC added that mShelter spears and non-food items are stuck in border countries waiting for approval, leaving about 1.5 million people, exposed to the resulting conditions.

The Cessation Agreement, which was intended to allow scores of trucks to help place and get food to families, where 2.3 million citizens lost their homes will be forced by the Israelis.

“It’s sad. There are no proper tents, or proper water, or proper food, or proper money,” Manal Salem, 52, told Reuters. Salem, who lives in a tent in Khan Younis, south of Gaza, said he was “absolutely exhausted” and feared the tent would not survive the winter.

Gaza’IS Earnistration of the area, controlled for a long time by Hamas, says that many trucks still do not reach their destination because of the Israeli restrictions, and only 145 days they deliver the goods.

The World Food Program (WFP) means only part of the necessary amount of future food. But the umbrella group of Palestinian agencies that liaise with the UN is only expected to receive an estimated amount of AID so far.

Israel currently says it is fulfilling its obligations under the amnesty agreement, which requires an average of 600 truckloads of supplies to Gaza per day. He blamed Hamas fighters for any food shortages, accusing them of stealing food aid before it was distributed, which the group denied.

Food, shelter, fuel

Firefighting and massive aid flows since mid-October have brought some progress, the United Nations Humanitarian Agency Ocha said.

Last week Ocha said that the 10th of children suspected in Gaza is still very real, down from 14 percent in September, with more than 1,000 showing the worst form of malnutrition.

Half of the families in Gaza reported increasing access to food, especially in the south, as more services and commercial funds eat after meals, while households were eating normally, as of July, Ocha said.

There is still a sharp divide between the south and the north where conditions remain the worst, he said.

Abeer Etefa, WFP’s senior spokesman, described the situation as “a race against time.”

“We need full access. We need everything to move quickly,” Reuters said. “The winter months are coming. People are still suffering from hunger, and the needs are great.”

Little meat, eggs, vegetables

Since the trader, the agency has delivered 20,000 metric tons of revenue, almost half of what is needed to meet people’s needs, and has opened 144 documented sites.

Palestinians are fighting for aid in Gaza even after the first phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect. CBC’s Briar Stewart explains why relief trucks are still stuck at EndulAve’s borders.

The variety of foods needed to prevent malnutrition is also decreasing, according to Etefa.

“Most of the households we mentioned eat grains, pulses, dry parts of food, people who will not live long. Meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits are eaten a lot,” he said.

The ongoing lack of fuel, including cooking gas, is hampering efforts to eat healthy, and more than 60 percent of Gazans cook using combustible waste, Ocha said.

Fighting broke out in October 2023, following a Hamas-led attack in southern Israel that killed around 1,200 people and captured 250. Israel’s military response to Gaza has killed nearly 69,000 Palestinians, local health authorities say, and as many as 241 people have been killed by Israeli fire during the crossing, since Oct. 11.
