Niteroi, Brazil (AP) – Performers twisted and rose above the sand on a beach in Rio de Janeiro in Rio de Janeiro’s Aerias Circus show that showcases women in Brazil.
Six women and two men made a piece called “alone we are petals, together we are roses” for the first time on Saturday in the city of Nii with the famous Rio – The SouthLoaf mountain – in the background.
In the beginning, the lady is in a pink bodysuit and has a classy attitude on stilts. The male singers beat him to the ground. But the victim returns to his body by testing its physical strength and finding the courage to communicate with other women. Finally he returns to the high ropes.
“After we go through all this, we grow more. We become stronger.
Juliana Berti Abduch, who has been a victim of this violent situation, created the Circus Acrobatics project set for 2020. The group’s first operation in 2023 focused on domestic violence. He said the new piece is not a continuation of this show, but a way to continue talking and fighting violence in its many forms.
Building a project can heal artists who have been subjected to gender-based violence, who come in fear and trauma, according to Berti Abducuch.
“From the moment they started the classes, they started to overcome their limitations. This helps a lot in life in general. I am sure that this project helped to make women feel more secure.
About 100 people gathered to watch the performance, some of them who were passing by and stopped, were tormented by a surprising sight involving hoops, in the sea full of people lifting weights and playing volleyball.
“I found it touching,” said Fabiane Curione de Mederience. “I think the message – that women need to unite and expose violence – needs to be real.”
More than one in three women in Brazil was a victim of sexual or gender-based violence over the past year, according to a report by Tank Tank Brazil on public safety in public safety where records from that time appear.
An example of the ongoing struggle for women’s rights in Brazil is the legal status of abortion. While it is allowed in three cases, including in cases of rape, women often face significant obstacles in obtaining these services.
During the performance, a series of terrifying statistics explodes from the nearby amplifier, including the fact that a woman was raped every six minutes in Brazil last year, and according to the forum of public safety.
“The show releases heavy air, because we talk about this situation. But we also show that there are ways and strategies to fight it,” said Hamilton Azevedo.
“The work itself is a plan. We wanted to leave that place of grief and hold on to the hope that the future will be better. And build that thing for the future through ART, sports and women’s empowerment,” she said.
