Jimmy Kimmel Live! will reportedly make a big change amid the changing nature of late-night television.

ABC talk show, hosted by Jimmy Kimmelwill reduce the music performance to twice a week, it said The Hollywood Reporter Tuesday, January 6.

The newspaper reported that the music producer of the show, Jim Pittindustry partners have been informed about the news in recent weeks, although no reason has been given for the departure.

The show is not expected to shorten the length, by The Hollywood Reporter.

Late night TV has seen some big changes in recent years, with NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyerdrops its house band led by Fred Armisen in 2024 and CBS is canceling it altogether The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last year.

“It almost killed me,” he told reporters in the winners’ room after his victory. “Well, not literally, but I felt like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn watching their funeral, when all these things happened.”

“Being here and seeing people react not only in a positive way, but in an almost desperate way, we’re like, ‘Well, boy, if they’re going after comedians, that’s where we draw the line,'” he added. “We are very grateful that they drew the line for us.”

Kimmel and his talk show were also rocked in November 2025 by the death of Cleto Escobedo IIIthe leader of the show’s house band and the comedian’s childhood friend. Kimmel paid tribute to Escobedo in his opening monologue in the quick clip after his death, before taking a short break from the show.

“It’s not fair,” Kimmel said through tears. “He was the nicest person, very humble, kind and always funny.”
