Bethenny Frankel is still looking on the bright side after contracting a bacterial infection while leaving St. The latest Bart.
“Despite leaving early because of the sad news, facing a bacterial infection, and St. Barths being the Hunger Games of socialization, I still find the most important moments,” Frankel, 55, wrote on Instagram on Sunday, January 4, alongside photos of several fun and unpleasant moments from the trip.
In one of the pictures, the Real Housewives alum shared a close-up selfie, showing a rash on her face and red spots covering her right cheek. (It wasn’t clear what caused the virus, though Frankel did have a video afterward of his “whole face breaking out in a rash.”)
“POV: Went to St. Barths 3 days ago and came home with a virus,” he captioned a TikTok video on Monday, January 5. “Allergic to St. Barths #bye.”
He also posted a TikTok video on Sunday, January 4, talking about his experience on the island, which he says is full of people “more focused on where they should be than where they are.”
“Every day you go to the beach or the beach club at the hotel and it’s going to be the ‘Hunger Games’ for fashion and money,” he said. “No one dresses casually.”
As noted in her Instagram post, Frankel has been mourning the tragic loss of celebrity makeup artist and friend Jasen Kaplan, who died at the age of 46 on December 31.
“Jasen Kaplan had a positive energy that was truly infectious,” he wrote after his death, sharing a heartfelt tribute in his honor with videos that flashback to happy times.
“He was happy, energetic, and always brought his A-game. The world lost a gem on New Year’s Eve, which still doesn’t feel real. Jasen was magnetic, generous, endlessly supportive, and always sharing what he found next – food, products, people,” she added, before revealing that Kaplan also shared a special bond with his daughter, Bryn.
“We were crying and laughing all the time,” continued the former Bravo star. “Every time she saw Bryn, she would ask to do her makeup, giving her lip gloss and tips.
Frankel also shared that Kaplan brought immeasurable joy to his life.
“He always showed up and he made me happy,” he happily recalled of the former Finding Prince Charming star. “He saw me through everything, from fixing broken zippers to making me feel like a supermodel. If you were around him, you were very happy.”
Frankel said that although his journey did not end the way he had hoped, he was reminded to enjoy the good times.
In her latest Instagram post, the Skinnygirl founder shared a clip of her date club fun Glen Powell, Alix Earle, Nina Dobrev and more. Frankel also participated Lauren Sanchez while we boarded the boat.
“I spent special time with friends and my love, Bryn, and entered the new year in a way that felt truly meaningful, surrounded by good people,” she continued in her post. “This trip reminded me of something I’ve always known but sometimes forget: it’s not about what you do, but who you’re with. And true happiness doesn’t come from situations, plans, or noise, it comes from within.”
