For the second year in a row, navy midshipmen won the major award for commanders.

The Midshipmen earned a gutsy 17-16 victory over one of the greatest rivalries in sports.

Navy got off to a hot start, as they scored a touchdown on their first drive, and Blake Horvath ran 45 yards for 75 yards. He also had an 11-yard pass.

The Army, however, answered back with a similar drive, 13 plays for 75 yards – this one ended with Cale Heldums scoring one.

Navy’s offense was dispatched long after that, as their next three drives ended with a punt, a drive, and a layup. Meanwhile, the dark knights managed three field goals to go up, 16-7. At the end of the third, the midshipmen finally added more points to the scoreboard with a field goal that cut into their lack of threes.

At the beginning of the fourth, the navy forced the appearance of the soldiers. Navy had the ball on the goal line but was sacked by the quarterback, losing seven possessions. Horvath hit Eli Heidenrich in the end zone, however, the next kick provided his first possession since the first drive of the game.

Navy forced a quick three-and-out and got the ball back with less than five minutes to go. Navy lost a punt on a first down that was not intended on the play, but the play was reviewed, and the call was reversed. So, Navy had a fourth-and-1 and kept the offense on the field. They got the first down requested in the game.

With the win, the Navy received the commander-in-chief’s trophy and beat the Air Force earlier in the year.

The game was its typical old-school and up-and-coming style of football, as there were only 24 attempts against 86 runs.

President Donald Trump attended the game for the seventh time, and his second in as many years since he was elected. Trump participated in the Flip Coin Flip, but not before protesters used lewds and signed protest horns on the street leading to the stadium.

Protests are expected to BOOL in the blue-chip city, as Trump has proposed sending the national guard to Baltimore to help deal with the city’s crime. Baltimore sits among the US cities with the highest crime rates, appearing in the top 5 for violent crime, especially homicides and robberies.

The protests against Trump also come on the same day that officials said two U.S. Army soldiers and a U.S. translator were killed in an airstrike in Syria.
