Socialist Seattle Mayor Seattle Wilson is ready to meet with President Donald Trump, should he decide to invite him to the white house.
“I’ll meet anybody,” he said, per a Seattle Times report from Tuesday. “I mean, he’s the president of the United States.”
Wilson, who defeated Democratic Mayor Bruce in a tight race earlier this month, is shouldering the likes of New York City’s Mamdani, including heftier taxes on the wealthy, pets and interest in wealthy childcare. While Mamdani’s race received the most national attention, Wilson’s rise in Washington’s largest city has important implications.
Mamdani perhaps laid the groundwork for the Trump-Wilson meeting when he met with the President at the White House last week to discuss affordability, public safety and other issues concerning New Yorkers.

Given that Mamdani and Trump had created a sharp competition for each other as “fascist” and “Communism,” their kind meeting drew a lot of attention and also scrutinized their religious partners.
Wilson, however, pushed back on the idea that such meetings constitute “selling.”
Instead, he says, they will be essential to his success as the next Mayor of Seattle.

“I think a lot of people at the top have a sophisticated understanding of what it’s going to take to deliver a bold, bold agenda, and that it’s not just about talking to your friends and the soapbox office,” he said, according to the Seattle Times.
The outlet noted that Wilson remains silent on other matters regarding him, but, pointing to his “necessary meeting” with people like Gov.
At the same time, he did not respond when Trump had been writing himself as “communists.”

Wilson promised during his “Trump-proof” campaign that he once again represented social nationalism, as he and Mamdani – and the National Democratic Socialists, and the Rep., and the Rep. – Try to suppress the leftist Democrats.
Both Wilson and Mamdani put accessibility at the forefront of their campaigns, an issue that drove people to vote in the 2024 presidential election.
