A group of Muslim leaders and religious merchants urged Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Republican, to return his announcement on the understanding of the council on American-Islamic relations (cair) as a foreign terrorist organization. “

The Texas designation is state level only. It does not carry the legal power of a foreign terrorist organization (FTO), which only the US State Department can issue. Therefore, Abbott’s announcement does not trigger fines or judicial authorities.

Leaders of several Islamic groups held a news conference on Tuesday to denounce the governor’s announcement, which he called Cairo a “transnational criminal organization.”

The groups called by the governor will also return his observation of the human rights group, calling it insulting, harmful and dangerous, according to FOX 4.

This comes after Cair filed a lawsuit against Texas against the governor’s proclamation, arguing that it violates both the US constitution and federal law.

Cair argues that the order violates his First Amendment rights and due process protections, and that Texas should end its mandate because terrorism detection falls under the jurisdiction of the state, not the state.

“The governor is trying to punish the rights of a large number of Muslims and the organization because they do not agree with their rights to the protected amendment that prohibits the law,” said the executive director of Ciir Dallas Fort, said in a press conference on Tuesday.

“You know that the Chair has condemned the attacks on Hamas. You know that the Chair has spent 31 years fighting terrorism and the formation of terrorism.

Leaders from other faiths, including Jewish voices, have also spoken out against Abbott’s label.

“We stand firm in solidarity with our allies in Cairo and in unwavering support for their false and inconsistent declarations,” Jewish voice of peace Deborah Armintor.

Stolota Rep. Terry Meza, a Democrat, added that the governor’s comments “are not only wrong, they are dangerous. He is making comments like our Muslim community.”

The case is ongoing, and it remains unclear whether the court will expand Abbott’s order or strike it down as a state mandate.

The governor’s order bent the cat from Buying Land In the case of the star alone under the new statement aimed at reducing the purchase of tied “foreign ingredients.”

Abbott’s order also extends the “terrorist” label to the Muslim Brotherhood, despite the federal government never classifying the group in this way.
