The White House and the President himself are trying to walk back his views, saying he does not want to exclude Democrat lawmakers.
In another post on Saturday, Trump said that “many leading legal scholars” agree with his position that “Democrats who popularize and tell the military to disobey my orders, as President, are committing a serious crime.”
Slotkin, a former CIA and Defense Department official, shared a video on Tuesday with other Democrats urging the military and intelligence community to ignore illegal orders from officials.
“This is being controlled by our military and intelligence community experts going to war against American citizens,” the lawmakers said. “Like us, you all swear an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. Right now, threats to our Constitution are not emerging.” No one should make orders that violate the law or our Constitution. “

“We have law enforcement outside my house,” he told Mrs. Now. “It changes things quickly. And the climate of leadership is set from the top. And if the president says you should be hanged, then you shouldn’t be surprised when people are found on the ground.”

Lawmakers in the video vowed not to back down despite the threats.
“It tells you a lot that the President considers it a death penalty for us to return to the law. You should not know that we receive not only their oaths, but also our work,” said a joint employee on Thursday.
“In these times, fear is contagious, but so is courage. We will continue to lead and we will not be intimidated,” the statement said.
