Cal State Fullerton Soccer Player Dies Weeks After Crashing Boxer Truck

A college football player has died weeks after he and his teammates were struck by a box truck while riding electric scooters in California in September, school officials announced this week. He was just 19 years old.
Cal State Fullerton Soccer Player Lauren Turner died on November 7, nearly six weeks after suffering life-threatening injuries when she and ashlyn ashlyn gwynn were struck by a box truck.

“The Cal State Furelton Athletics Department is saddened to announce the news of the departure of a women’s soccer student-athlete six weeks after the collision,” the university said in a statement on Monday.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his parents, Christopher and Christine, his sisters, and Dictoria, the coaches, trainers, staff and all who were lucky enough to know him.”
The women’s soccer team also released a statement remembering Turner as “The funniest, most loving, and most loving person to work with you could ever ask for.”

The Fullerton Police Department was dispatched to the area after reports of a collision involving a car and two electric scooters on September 27 around 7 p.m.
According to the police, the initial investigation revealed that two football players were riding their scooters in the southbound lane when a box truck in the same lane “collided” with them.

Police said at the time alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the accident. The Fullerton Police Department told FOX News Digital that the investigation remains “ongoing and active.”
In a statement shared on Turner’s gofundme campaign, his family thanked others for their “outpouring of love, prayers and support.”
“Early this morning, our sweet Lauren fell asleep in the Lord. Our hearts are broken, and our family has changed so far.
“Lauren approached everything she did with heart and joy. She was funny, full of her life, and she had the gift of making the people around her, she laughed humbly. Both turned off in the field.”

According to Gwynn’s gofundme campaign, he was moved to the “Stock Down” ward after a month in the ICU. His family hopes to transfer him to Tirr Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, for rehabilitation.
