Charles Spencer Sharing new details on how he designed his sister Princess Dianaat his funeral.
In an interview with Gyles brandreth On the Friday, October 24, episode of the “Rosebud” Podcast, the 9th Earl Spencer, 61, said that the eulogy he originally planned for Diana’s memorial service in September 1997 was “very different” from what he ended up with.
He explained that he was “in a beat” flying to the UK from Cape Town, South Africa, when he started thinking about who could have missed his sister.
“I had a huge address book, and I thought, ‘I want to find someone to do that speech for.’ And I got to ‘Z’
“[I] got off the plane at heathrow [Airport]called my mother, I said, ‘I don’t think who will give the Eulogy. And I have a bad feeling it’s going to have to be me,’ he continued. And he said, ‘Yes, it will be you. Your sister and I decided. ‘”
Spencer said that at first he decided to write a “traditional realization” about their childhood and like them, but then he thought, “Well, this is funny, it’s not who.”

Spencer praised Harry following the victory, writing in the post at the time, “it takes a lot of guts to make a bet on his mother, and he is very confident that Harry will win this, I am very confident.”
