First on fox: The Republican Party is raising concerns about the possible consequences of the US Addition to Argentina’s beef after President Donald Trump floated the idea earlier this week.
Rep. Julie Fedorchak, RN.D., leads seven other GOP positions in the President’s letter Tuesday evening, warning of a potential multibillion American Ranching Industry.
“America’s cattle producers are among the strongest and hardest working in the nation,” the Republican said. “Collectively, the cattle industry supports thousands of jobs across our regions and contributes $112 billion to rural economies across the country.”
“In recent days, we have heard strong concerns from producers regarding reports that the US is importing beef from Argentina.”

House Republicans acknowledged the “importance of strong trade relations and diversified markets” but added that clarity will be used on where this decision will be implemented, and how this policy aligns with its commitment to American agriculture management. “
Trump suggested on Sunday that buying beef from Argentina could help lower prices for Americans at home, amid a broad promise of lower costs for US citizens.
“One of the things we’re thinking about is beef from Argentina,” he told reporters on the air.
He later clarified in his interview with reporters, “we were going to buy more meat from Argentina. If we do that, that will bring down the price of beef.”
“Our food is low, our energy prices are low. I think we’re going to get $2 gas soon. We’re close to everything.
He added that it would not be “that much” but argued that it would help Argentina, a US ally, as well.

But House Republicans questioned whether imported beef would be held to the same food safety and animal health requirements as those in the US, which they call the “gold standard.”
“Any import policy must hold the suppliers of other countries in those same difficult ways. Introducing beef from countries with inconsistent safety or inspection records can reverse the confidence of ranchers to work,” warned the law enforcement.
“We respectfully request more information on this matter and urge your management to ensure that any future decisions are made transparently at full risk, they will continue to respond quickly to market demands at the highest level of retail.”
In addition to FedorChak, this book is also signed by reps. Michelle Fischbach, Rerek Evans, and R-Kan., R-KAN.
White House spokesperson Kush Desai told fox digital news in response, “The Trump administration remains committed to addressing manufacturing and international needs.
“And that’s why management is focused on reversing the sudden decline in the supply of live cattle by investing in disaster resources that will introduce disaster resources, supporting new ranchers,” said Desai.
Trump’s proposal has revived some concerns among some Republicans
Sen. FIScher, R-Neb., posted on X Tuesday, “If the goal is to talk about the price of beef at the grocery store, this is not the way.”
“The US has a safe, reliable cow, and it’s the bright spot in our Ag economy in our economy. Nebraska ranchers can’t afford the realid that was taken out from under them when they first started,” Fischer said.

But some Republican responses were more muted. Sen. Markayne Mullin, R-Okla.
FedorCchak himself told FOX News Digital, “We have all received several questions and calls in the last few days, so our agendas are starting to produce the safest meat.”
