Sacramento – The Office of Gov. Gavin Newlom’s Office is considering closing parts of Interstate 5 starting Friday between the White House-REVELTS Off at SAN PENDELON’s County in San Diego County – where freeway warships are expected at the base.
The News Office has received, but not confirmed, reports that Live Ormance will be fired from offshore vessels during the event to commemorate the 250th anniversary. The event is called “Sea to Coast – Review of amphibious capabilities” and will feature Vice President JD Vence.
Newloom’s office said it had received little information about the event or security arrangements. The military show of force meets the shows of kings and hit the whole country on Saturday which is expected to draw large crowds, the demonstrations challenge Truc and what the critics say the government is excessive.
“Donald Trump and JD Vance think that shutting down I-5 cruise missiles is the way you respect the military,” BIBLIOGRAPHY Social Media Site X on Wednesday.
A military source said the ceremony would include a live air raid demonstration. The Times could not confirm that Live Ordnance would be fired over the highway. The White House and the Marine Corps did not immediately respond to questions.
“California has always respected our marches — but this is not the right way to go about it,” a Newloom spokesperson said. “The White House should focus on paying its tariffs, reducing food prices and honoring the military for their service instead of showing our strength.”
Freeway closures are being considered for the portion of I-5 between Orange County and San Diego County from Friday to Saturday, which would cut off a major traffic artery that carries 80,000 travelers a day. A short-notice shutdown could result in a massive gridlock from the Dana area in the north to all of Del Mar in the south.
A spokesman for the California Department of Tourism Edward Barrera said that “based on” the possible conditions shared with us by the federal government, “the agency is preparing to close the section of interstate 5 for the safety of 5 motorists.
“If the federal government requests a highway closure, drivers should expect delays on Interstate 5 and other interstate highways in Southern California before, during and after the event,” Barrera said in a statement.
VANCE, the first Marine veteran to serve as Vice President, is expected to attend Saturday’s ceremony along with 15,000 Marines, sailors, veterans and their families, according to a media release. Along with Vence, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is expected to deliver remarks.
Camp Pendleton is being advised by nearby residents that there will be a renewed live fire drill on Sunday, which will lead to some roads on the base being closed.
The Trump administration previously had plans for a big celebration next month to mark the 250th anniversary of the military parade and march, which would include an air show and a blue serving — attended by President Trump, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Plans to host that show in San Diego have been scrapped, the paper reported.
Camp Pendleton is a 125,000 acre base in northwest San Diego County that has been critical in preparing the military to receive chemical weapons from its miles of coastline. The US Department of Defense is considering making part of the base available for development or lease.
