2036 or bust: India builds Olympic bid

In the first morning training session at the Olympic-Standard Range Runle in Pune, Maharashtra State, the center was of the opinion that India is willing to host the summer games in 2036.

“Getting to the Olympics, it’s a big stage. There’s nothing more than that,” said Shahu Mane, a former World Cup qualifier in the Air Pistol mixed event.

“The government is trying everything to build,” said Mane, also a former youth Olympic silver medalist. “So it can affect the country as well [my] sports in a good way. ”

The Indian delegation that visited the Lausanne headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (iOC) in July to officially Ahmedabad, the largest city in the western state of Gujarat, as the Host City for India’s 2036 BID. The final decision will probably not be made before the late 2027.

Even before the launch of the IOC, Indian officials spent two years quietly working on an offensive look and softening.

In 2024, during a major speech celebrating the independence day across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that bringing the “Olympics 2036 closer to his soil, and finds a successful goal in his government, and presented a successful promoter of the past as proof that India can organize any major international event.

But there are significant problems with India’s long-standing institutions, including persistent questions over misconduct and governance problems within the Olympic Association, as well as low medal counts in past games.

Add to that, India’s Traction problems and that the organization has the will or capacity to clean itself.

The world’s most populous country has never contested the Olympics, although the capital Delhi hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2010.

However, the general consensus among the athletes gathered at Pune’s Gun for Glossion Sukur Shooting Academy, who are all trained with Airlic Distols and guns in one of the highest Olympic countries where the South Asian country has a powerful gun to arrive at the prestigious event.

“It will be a proud moment for India,” said 16-year-old Shrisha Patil, who revived it two years ago after her mother suggested it might help with its focus.

This girl called the idea that they are international athletes coming to India for the Olympic Games “really cool.”

Patil, who trains five days a week, said he felt more when he saw the Indian Olympic Nab.

Building a Boom

On the streets of Ahmedabad, there were sounds of construction all over the place as the finishing touches were made to the newly installed sports complex in Naranpura area.

Ten major stadiums are planned in the city, part of a series of major sports infrastructure announcements by India that are hoped to renew the IOC’s recognition of the country, over rivals from Qatar, Turkey and Chile.

In a sign that India’s Olympic ambitions are serious, the IOC is also expected to add a new Indian sponsor to its top Tier list, which has paid almost 2023.

Hosting the Olympics is “a matter of pride,” according to Ahmedabad Resicer Kalpesh Sompura, 52, who works in the market.

“Earlier India was an analyzed country, but now they are paying attention [us]. “

It is still a developing country, but India now has the trend of being the fastest growing economy in the world and is expected to overtake Germany in third place before the end of the decade.

Through his many speeches Talking about the benefits of sportsModi also depends on the concept of sports, the pride of the country, the building of the country’s reputation and the development of the scur.

In one address, he called the goal of hosting the Olympics “an age-old dream and desire” of 1.4 billion Indians.

His government has injected variable amounts of money into sports programs, with Modi’s slogan “Khelo India,” translated as “Let’s play India,” in 2018 to target and support rural athletes, especially in rural areas.

In preparation for its Olympic bid, Indian officials recently announced the The government is providing 50,000 rupees (around $800 CDN) in monthly aid to some 3,000 athletes as part of the push to the top five academics of the country by 2036.

That would be a tough goal to achieve, when Indian athletes finished 71st in the Medis table at the 2024 Paris Games, with a gift of 20 billion people more than the Olympics (at the 2020 Tokyo Games).

Place the house in order: IOC

The number of Medical Medals was one of the things that affected the OC, which was reportedly said to be India’s official bid, in a “direct” interview. The Indian Express reported.

The IOC authorities have told the Crazy Olympics organization to organize its house and deal with bad management, bad management and high levels of drag.

Indian wrestling, in particular, has been engulfed in doping scandals, with one wrestler, Narsingh Yadav, banned from his first matches, after his Rio claims were dismissed.

Another wrestler Bajrang Pumane, who won the bronze medal in Tokyo, was given a four-year ban after refusing to provide a urine sample before the Paris Olympics in 2024.

India’s most popular Olympian, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won silver in the Tokyo Games and Paris Games, recently lamented that “doping is a big problem in India.”

According to its latest statistics, the anti-doping agency (Wada) identified India as the country with the highest levels of sanctions in 2023, at 3.8 percent, among the major sports nations. The agency also released data showing India is the second worst promoter when it comes to child migration, behind only Russia.

And yet, in a decision that will take a month more, the South Asian country has just been awarded the 2030 regular games, which will take place six years before the Olympics in India are shot, and in Ahmedabad.

But India’s history with that sporting event is troubled. The Chiedionwealth Commonwealth Games in Delhi were an embarrassment, beset by construction delays, corruption scandals and misconduct.

A footbridge that could not be built collapsed only weeks before the opening ceremony, injuring 27 workers, and several facilities were not ready when the athletes arrived.

Later, a report from India’s public auditor found improper distribution of funds and choices in awarding inflated contracts that forced the sports budget 16 times.

India’s hard sell

India’s ambitious Olympic BID 2036 has the same characteristics that have plagued many other hosting proposals over the years, according to Andrew Zimbarst, a professor of economics at Smith College in Rovers.

His work has led to several books on whether the economics of hosting games work in bidding cities.

His fate in Ahmedabad: It is a difficult thing.

“I would start with a lot of doubts about the logic of doing it [in Ahmedabad]”He told CBC news.

“If all the stars align well and are well controlled, then it is something neutral or good power, or good scientists, even if the politicians tend to find the Olympics as everything is good. “But the odds are stacked against it,” he said.

The main beneficiaries, according to Zimbalist, will always be construction companies and developers who receive billions of dollars worth of contracts, to build places that often end up sitting empty after the games.

Two host cities managed to turn the Olympics into a good promise for continued development, zimbabalists say: Los Angeles in 1984 and 1992 and Barcelona in 1992.

Since 2000, it’s all been down, and the Economist says he doesn’t believe the pattern will change anytime soon.

Olympic dreams

But at the Pune shooting range, question marks over India’s Olympic bid remain over potential gains.

“If the Olympics happen in India, it will give a big boost to the kids [who have trained hard] And their parents “will see the result of the end of the most difficult work, said Shreya Agrawal, 25, a former World Cup shooter.

It will also give a bump to his sport, he told CBC news, and help draw athletes who are too young to shoot.

Agrawal may be too old to compete in 2036, but even if he can’t do it in front of an Indian crowd, he dreams of winning a medal for his country in any Olympic country.

“It’s the highest achievement that makes you feel like you’re in a safe,” she said, especially when she’s caring at home.
